Shopping Habits: What kind of shopper are you? Do you differ from your family and friends?

First of all, I would characterize myself as a conscientious shopper. I only buy things I need and I make careful plans to execute my choices.

I’m a planner. I love to plan, so I compose lists of items I like and lack. But, I don’t purchase them straight away. The thing I hate the most is when I buy something and then later realize I didn’t require it. I avoid having things that take up space in my home which lack purpose. Therefore, I generally wait for a few months before I decide to actually obtain the item. During those few months, I research various stores that offer my desired product and follow the pricing trends.

Another thing I really dislike is getting something and then finding out three days later that it’s now on sale. I consider myself lucky that I’m able to be patient enough to wait for the right opportunity to acquire that which I want.

My family, on the other hand, is very modest. They like to buy things only as the last resort. Their belongings are taken care of and fixed, mended or repaired as needed. An item would be bought only if the previous one is completely unusable. My best friend prefers to purchase products on sale. She goes on shopping sprees during seasonal sales and gets everything she thinks she might need.

In essence, I despise wasting money. I believe in having less but of higher quality. Basically, quality over quantity is my guideline when shopping. But on occasion, I indulge myself, especially during the holiday season, and allow myself a trinket or two.
