Prices in Serbia and Other Countries

Prices in Serbia have gone up and anecdotally they don’t show any sign of stopping their rise any time soon. Needless to say, life in Serbia has drastically changed over the last five years.

When we look at food, eggs are cheaper in Budapest than in our capital, while the UK eggs are twice the figure when compared to both Belgrade and Budapest. Chicken is priced at a lot less in Budapest when compared to both Belgrade and London, where the price tags of chicken in London are double that of those in Budapest. Overall, grocery expenses for both Budapest and London are higher than for Belgrade, but Budapest prices are negligibly higher than Belgrade’s.

Regarding the cost of gas per liter, London is in the lead with being the most pricey and Budapest being the least pricey of the three. If we compare the amounts needed for a new car, buying a VW Golf is actually cheaper in the capital of Hungary than in Serbia.

Monthly utilities including electricity, heating, garbage collection and water are around 25% less expensive in Budapest than in Belgrade, while Londoners’ monthly utility bills are around 75% more expensive than for Serbians. Even Internet bills are cheaper in Budapest when compared to Belgrade.

If you desire to rent a one-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of the capital, Budapest is in the lead with being the most reasonable, while rents in London cost an arm and a leg, being almost 300% more expensive than Belgrade. Price per square meter for a new apartment in Belgrade cost 10% more than in Budapest and 300% less than in London.

If, however, you want to go to the gym or to the cinema, Belgrade is the place to go with being the least extravagant capital for sports and leisure activities.

To conclude, living in Budapest is more cost-effective than in Belgrade, while living in London is exorbitantly steep in comparison to both Belgrade and Budapest.
